Breakaway
A special mid-week break for students 7th-12th grade...

The Youth Ministry at Noland Road Baptist Church offers many outlets for spiritual growth and development of teenagers, geared solely to students in junior high and high school.  The teens years can be some of the toughest years of your child's life, and with all the outside influences present in schools and social groups, NRBC provides practical spiritual guidance applicable to many different things your student may struggle with.

The youth ministry operates on one mission statement:

...to please our Lord and Savior by centering our focus on Christ as we serve Him.

Our five core values are our FOCUS.

Fellowship:  Developing relationships with students is a key foundation of our ministry.  As students and leaders invest in each other's lives, we recognize that students need to be known, cared for, held accountable and encouraged in their spiritual journey.

Outreach:  We place an emphasis on equipping the students to share their faith and recognize their responsibility as believers to boldly share what God has done in their life.  We specifically plan activities where students can feel welcome to invite their friends.

Celebrate:  We worship as we celebrate God's presence and honor Him with our lifestyle.  Everything we do is done because we love God and desire to honor and worship Him.

Unify:  As believers in Christ, we are commanded to mature and grow up in the faith as we learn more about Christ and how to become more like Him.  Through small and large group settings, God's Word is taught and students are challenged to grow in their personal walk with Christ.

Serve:  God has given each Christian spiritual gifts to use for His glory.  As students discover their gifts they learn how to implement them through ministry and mission opportunities.  We focus on equipping students to lead and prove ways for them to take ownership of the ministry and get involved through serving in various ways.

Camp Revolution

This year, the youth ministry of Noland Road Baptist Church will be following God's lead to help start a new camp at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR.  In partnering with several various churches around the Kansas City area, the youth ministry will be attending Camp Revolution, June 23-27th at a cost of $290.00.  There will be powerful speakers, God-focused praise and worship, intimate and growth-focused small-group times as well as team-building recreation times and much more!  For more information on the camp and speakers, please visit www.camprevolution.com.  You can also visit the Calendar page of the Student Ministry website to download a registration form and view the financial timeline.  Invite a friend... or two... or twelve, and we'll see you there!

Crossroads
Thursday night Bible Study for students ages 18-28...

Our Crossroads College and Career Ministry gives young adults the opportunity to continue to build their faith while engaging in discussions and interacting with others facing the same decisions and life issues. The college/career ministry focus on relationship building and discipleship through both ongoing activities and special events.

Crossroads Thursday night Bible study and worship kicks off at 7:00 PM at the home of Kenny Bennet and Chris Adams in Lee's Summit, and provides a mid-week break designed just for young adults. (View Map) Afterwards, the group often continues discussion and fellowship at a local restaurant, such as Buffalo Wild Wings.  For directions or information, please contact Wes Wakefield in the church office at x.305.

Interested in more intimate and discussion-oriented Bible study? The College & Career groups also meet during the adult Bible Study time on Sunday mornings at 9:45 AM in the second floor of The Plex.  College Aged students meet with John and Julie Ham, and Career aged students meet with Stuart and Jaime Matthews.

Don't forget about the fun stuff! The College/Career group has special events and social opportunities throughout the year, such as Monday night volleyball during the summer, pool parties, an annual ski trip, after-Sunday lunches and more. Watch for upcoming events on the church calendar or in the bulletin.

Special Teen Connections
For teens with Special Needs...

Noland Road Baptist Church is committed to Transforming Lives Through Christ.  We don't feel that any ear is unworthy of hearing of the love of Jesus Christ, and we don't turn anyone away that seeks to grow.

The Special Teen Connections ministry is one of our newest ministries and is dedicated to showing God's love for teen and adult individuals with disabilities and their families.  The purpose of this ministry is to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of teens and adults in our local special needs community as well as investing time in their families and showing them a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  The goal is not for people to define a person BY their disability, but rather, to see them as a person WITH a disability.

The Sunday morning Bible Studies encourage mental, social and spiritual growth through discussion, prayer, stories, worship and skits.  The curriculum is designed to be taught at a level and pace that all can understand, to help class members grow in their knowledge and love of Christ.  Sunday morning Bible Study class is offered at 9:45 AM in Worship Center West class room.

Special Teen Connections also offers a monthly social for teens with special needs.  This social is held at the NRBC Student Ministries building, The SPOT, located across from NRBC.  On the second Saturday of each month, volunteers and teens gather for a night of board and video games, sports and karaoke.  This free event is open for all teens with special needs, as old as 21.

This social is always in need of volunteers.  If you have a heart for people with special needs, you want to build relationships with them and have contaigious enthusiasm and creating fun for them, please contact Teresa Shoaf or Wes Wakefield in the church office for more information.  If you desire to serve, it will be on a rotational basis.

NRBC News
April 14, 2008 -

After many weeks of traffic chaos, the Noland Road bridge has finally re-opened!  There is limited and somewhat congested access to Noland via I-70, but with a little patience, you can now access Noland Road from the interstate.  MODOT will continue to have ramps closed in rotation.  Please take note of signs for further information.  Thank you for your continued loyalty to NRBC even in the midst of the traffic situation.
