The Deacon Body of NRBC is an extension of the pastoral ministry. Deacons are available to help with hospital and WatchCare visits, with providing support to families in time of loss—in general to support NRBC's families in times of need. Deacons with their wives also serve as host and hostess during Sunday services, standing alongside anyone who joins the church.
Deacons at NRBC serve one of five teams, which rotate service weekly. You can find the Team that is serving by looking at the bulletin every week (see here).
This year, the deacons are led by Ken Bledsoe, Chairman (816-373-6723)
Team leaders are as follows:
- David Hunt
- Bill Wilkerson
- John Knipp
- Jim Waits
- Doug Hacker
Yokefellows are selected by the church and approved by the Deacon Body and the Pastor as deacons-in-training. Yokefellows participate in a year-long training program that involves sessions on qualifications of a deacon, participation in hospital and WatchCare visits alongside a current deacon, and attendance at monthly deacons' meetings.
